Original copperplate engraved antique map of Leicestershire, England, printed more than 265 years ago. This historic map was drawn by Robert Morden and published in William Camden's Britannia by Edmund Gibson, London, 1753. It labels Watling Street, an ancient track, paved in Roman times and basically defining the boundary between Leicestershire and Warwickshire.

Other details include hundreds (shire judicial divisions), towns, castles, rivers, and forests. Specific named features include Castle Donington, Melton Mowbray, Charnwood Forest, Bosworth, Mount Soar Hill, Lutterworth, Bowden Magna, Oakham, Waltham on the Wolds, and Harborough, as well as many more. The map has a decorative cartouche and a tripartite mileage scale. The image area measures 35.9 x 41.8 cm [14" x 16½"].

It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with a vertical center fold, as issued, narrow margins at left and right, and no marks, rips, or tears.
